I imagine that my family and their friends in Texas are not acting out the nativity this evening. But Christmas Eve just isn't Christmas Eve without a reading of Luke 2 accompanied by plenty of towels, scarves, stuffed animals, and, in this family's case, a pair of striped fleece mittens. So for their benefit, I post this tonight. (By the way, Greg took charge of our reenactment, and it was definitely a success. It seems as if, in addition to cookie decorating, he also had hidden talents as an artistic director.)
And Joseph went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem...with Mary his espoused wife:
And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger:
Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart:
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them...
On earth peace, good will toward men.
Merry Christmas!
