In a moment of brilliance (rare for us these days), we decided to borrow a baby backpack for our trip to Hocking Hills. With two backpacks, we managed to go on four hikes--which is about three more than we could have done otherwise. Here's to totin' your three-year-old on your back! (Er, your husband's back!)
Hike #1--Cedar Falls (followed by a cookout--the closest we came to camping on this trip)
Hike #2--Old Man's Cave and the Lower Falls (and the visitor's center)

Hike #3--Ash Cave

This hike included bridges and tunnels!
These are Mary's first real shoes--not a bad way to break them in!
Poor baby. So tired!

Hike #4--Cantwell Cliffs (If three is a charm, then four is . . . a disaster?)
David wanting to chop down trees instead of hike:
Mary watching David water a tree:
(It could have gone better. Apparently, David's second-cousin Victor needs to teach him a thing or two.)
A tight squeeze:
Beautiful! But soon after this we got lost and had to backtrack:
Uh-oh. The trail ended here:
A short-cut that was too tight!
We didn't fit, and David ended up with a skinned leg and cheeks covered with tears:
(But somehow I think the worst hike turned out to be the best! Funny how that happens.)
