Chicago: A pit stop at Fair Oaks farm

Lest our trip turn us all into chic city big shots (ha ha), we stopped at--what else?--a farm.  In this case, a ginormous dairy farm.  I'm not going to spend my vacation describing the technological advances of the modern dairy.  (Did you know they milk cows on a giant merry-go-round???)  Suffice it to say that it was extremely interesting.  (My friend Leah visited this farm a while ago.  You can read about her visit.)  It was fun.  And it smelled nice.  Really.  There was so much "bio-security" that you do not once get a whiff of that fresh farm smell.

Of course we couldn't leave without trying the ice cream.  Delish!  (Though we're still partial to good old Young's Dairy and those high fat Jerseys.)  I think we'll probably stop again the next time we drive that way.
