A record for myself, and for the day I put Mary's baby book together.
- Mary is six months old.
- Mary weighs 15 lbs. and measures almost 25 inches tall.
- Mary weighed 7 lbs. 15 1/2 oz. and measured 21 inches when she was born.
- Mary was born 10 days late.
- Mary's middle name is Christine; she is named after Christine de Pisan.
- Mary is a super-spitty baby, in a great tradition of super spitty Hyer babies.
- Mary smiled early: Her grammie thinks she may have seen a real smile at one week, and I know I saw one at two weeks. There is no doubt she was smiling regularly by 4 weeks.
- Mary is frequently called a doll baby in public.
- Mary had occasional colicky crying spells during the first few months, but she has always had a cheerful disposition.
- For the first three months of life, Mary insisted on being held all day, often during naps too. She loved the sling!
- Mary likes to be naked. When she was about four months old, if she was fussy, all I had to do was take off her pants.
- Mary enjoys sucking her toes and blowing raspberries.
- Mary rolled over front to back at 3 months, but not back to front for another month or two.
- Mary could sit up at 5 months, and she was scooting by 5 1/2 months. She's been up on her knees a lot lately, so I think she'll be crawling soon.
- Mary has a really cute high-pitched squeal. She did it a lot around 2-3 months of age.
- Mary slept in our room at night until she was 5 1/2 months old.
- Until recently, Mary took most of her naps in her car seat.
- Mary is clearly bored when David is not around.
- Mary's first trip was to Aunt Keeta and Uncle Mike's house in Virginia for Thanksgiving. She was 5 weeks old. She has visited the National Mall in Washington D.C.
- Mary's first airplane ride was just after Christmas. We went to Dallas to visit family.
- Mary really likes her pacifier.
- Mary is not much interested in or soothed by music (except for the "Snuggle Puppy" song).
- Mary really likes playing with Duplo Legos.
- Mary sleeps in her crib on her contoured changing pad, wrapped tightly in a cigar roll. This has miraculously reduced her frequent nighttime wakings to one (which I can handle).
- Mary has started taking baths in the big bathtub with her brother.
- Mary makes people really happy.
- Mary has high maintenance hair--shampoo, conditioner, blow dry, detangler, spray bottle, ponytails, bows, real hair brush, the works!
- Mary started grabbing things when she was 2 months old. The first thing she ever grabbed was this dumb Ratatouille rat that my brother Dave (thoughtfully?) gave my mom for Christmas.
- Mary is the first girl born on my side of the family since me!
- Mary is social.
- Mary concentrates on the task at hand and does not give up easily.
- Mary is very ticklish, especially in the ribs.
- Right now Mary likes to kick things.
- Mary is a fast nurser.
- Mary loves to have her hair washed and blowed dry; thankfully, she is very patient about it.
- Mary has been in a swimming pool twice, and she hated it both times.
- Mary likes to feel the wind in her face.
- Mary seems innocent and wise at the same time.
- Mary, at one week short of six months, devoured baby cereal with gusto for three days, and now she hates it.
- Mary loves being part of our family. And we love that she is part of our family.
