Our little velociraptor

Mary is a verbal baby. An early coo-er, she now blows raspberries, squeals, and babbles a breathy "ba-ba-ba." Yes, I know it's nothing remarkable, but we're her parents, and we think every new sound is absolutely amazing and to-die-for cute. (Especially after David, who had much better things to do as a baby than sitting around blowing raspberries.)

Mary has recently added "the raptor" to her repertoire. She gasps, slowly inhaling with as much noise volume as possible. It sounds something like an asthma attack. But mostly it sounds non-human--like the raptors in Jurassic Park. I'll be honest--it's not quite as "to-die-for-cute" as her high-pitched giggles. It's even a little creepy. But you have to give her credit for experimentation and creativity.

Our very own little raptor...
(By the way, the velociraptors of Jurassic Park were actually modeled after the Deinonychus. Velociraptors were turkey-sized and covered in feathers. Now you know.)
